Vitamin A&E LC-MS
Vitamin A & E LC-MS Reagens Kit
Advantages of the Diagnotix Vitamin A&E LC-MS kit:
- 40 times deproteinization solution instead of the usual 2-3 times, leading to increased column stability and lifespan.
- Six Calibrator Levels in Human Serum
- Easy to install onto your LC-MS system
- No concern of coeluting other Tocopherols or Tocotrienols (See below the text 'Why transition from HPLC to LC-MS?' to understand why this is an important topic)
Components:
- Vitamin A (Retinol)
- Vitamin E (α-Tocopherol)
At a glance:
- Matrix: serum/plasma
- Technique: LC-MS/MS
- Internal Standard: Retinol-D6, α-Tocopherol-D3
Intended use
The Diagnotix Vitamin A&E LC-MS kit is developed to determine the patient's Retinol and/or α-Tocopherol concentration in serum or plasma as a basis for further diagnostics.
Technical benefits
- only 25 µl sample needed
- No concern of coeluting any other vitamin E within our HPLC-assay. Commercial supplements, containing all vitamin E molecules, are widely available. This highlights the importance of using a robust HPLC-UV or fluorescence method for accurate analysis.
- No need for additional HPLC systems in your lab. Easily integrate this method into your existing LC-MS platform.
Why moving over from HPLC to LC-MS?
Save time and reduce maintenance costs by eliminating your HPLC system.
While analyzing vitamins A and E by HPLC (UV or fluorescence) is relatively straightforward, it requires maintaining an HPLC system. If your LC-MS system is not fully utilized, transferring your vitamin A and E method to LC-MS could save you time and reduce maintenance costs.
No need to separate other tocopherols and tocotrienols, which could potentially lead to longer runtimes and reduced column lifespan.
Another compelling reason to switch to LC-MS is the growing availability of supplements containing a wide range of tocopherols and tocotrienols analogs in varying concentrations. These can elevate the levels of other tocopherols and tocotrienols in the patient's sample, all of which share similar hydrophobic properties. While HPLC can separate these compounds, it potentially extending sample run times and becomes increasingly challenging as the column ages. Thus your column life time might be drastically reduced.
In contrast, LC-MS eliminates the need for full chromatographic separation since the molecules differ in mass. This ensures no interference from other tocopherols or tocotrienols, while maintaining a fast and efficient sample-to-sample throughput.
An enhanced deproteinization step for greater stability and increased lifespan of your column.
As a final point, with the Diagnotix LC-MS solution, you perform a significant additional dilution (40 times) during the deproteinization step, removing even more protein compared to traditional HPLC methods (which typically use 2 to 3 times dilution). This further contributes to longer column stability and lifespan.
Especially interesting for laboratories that:
I. Runs large numbers of samples once or more times per month.
II. Or are looking to transition from HPLC to LC-MS to enhance operational efficiency and reduce overall maintenance costs.
